Kimmy Yonghyuk (born in Seoul, South Korea, based in Cologne, Germany) explores the structure and inherent contradictions of digital images—and the ambiguity that arises from them—through painting and installation. Combining airbrush techniques with digital printing, through delicate layers, he reinterprets the visual language of the digital realm and induces errors beyond the system’s control to reveal fractures within the data. This sense of fracture manifests through recurring failures, hybrid forms, and fragmented viewpoints, dissolving the boundaries between the digital and the real. His images ultimately merge fictional imagery, subcultures, and familiar visual languages into a complex visual environment—where multiple vanishing points, shifting focal perspectives, and conflicting directional gravities coexist—embracing error and ambiguity.
